Our goal is to prepare our students for a smooth transition into a new school. While most choose to stay through the 8th grade, some leave earlier, moving on to various private and public schools throughout Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Whether children transition during the elementary and middle school years or are choosing a high school, The College School staff guides families through this succession and ensures that the new school is prepared to receive each student with assurance of a promising future.
In order to determine a student’s need for ongoing support (i.e. extended time for testing, assistive technology, etc…) the school psychologist performs a full educational evaluation, which is often completed during the final year at TCS. Additionally, standardized testing, along with informal and formal educational data are collected by classroom teachers and specialists. Finally, school recommendations for each child are made. The Director, along with the student’s current teachers, take time to visit and meet with the staff members in these prospective public and private schools our students look to attend.
The College School undoubtedly views every child’s transition from TCS as an essential and collaborative process.
