The College School
Arts and Elements: A Global Fusion For Grades 4-6
This camp celebrates art as a universal human expression, not one confined to a European lens. Each day spotlights a different region of the world, pairing traditional artistic practices with scientific exploration. Mornings focus on hands-on art projects inspired by cultural traditions. Afternoons build on those activities with scientific demonstrations or experiments tied to the same materials, techniques, geographic locations, or natural elements. Exploring activities like Shibori indigo dyeing and Alebrije-inspired papier-mâché, campers can look forward to getting messy with vibrant materials and experimenting like real scientists. They’ll move between studio-style making and lively investigations, all while exploring cultures whose artistic innovations have shaped our world. Most importantly, students will experience the excitement of seeing the “why” behind the art they create, unlocking the science hidden in every color, pattern, and texture.
After care is available with this camp for an additional fee. When registering for this camp, please note whether your camper will need aftercare.
