The College School

Hello TCS families and happy Friday!

A few updates for this week.

IMPORTANT: After-care:  Starting May 22, for the remainder of the school year, due to staffing, we will not be able to accommodate drop-ins for after-care services. Other than an emergency situation, we cannot have any additional students stay.

TCS gear: The gear arrived this week and was distributed to your child(ren) on Wednesday. Let us know if you have any issues with the products.

Field trip to the pool: We will be heading to the UD pool on May 30 (rain date June 2). There is a REQUIRED waiver to participate. Please make sure the waiver is completed by May 28 if your child(ren) is(are) participating.

TCS Annual Field Day: Our field day will be held on May 25. More details to come.

Closing ceremonies: It is hard to believe that closing ceremonies are less than 3 weeks away! We are excited to celebrate the accomplishments of our students that our theme is simply CELEBRATE! An official invitation is being prepared, however, here are some details. Date: June 8, 2023. Please arrive at the Audion at the STAR campus between 9:15 and 9:45. Do not go to the school. Light refreshments will be available starting at 9:15. The ceremony will begin at 10am and will likely end between 11:15-11:30. Dress code: Dress to Impress! At least one adult must be responsible for each child. In other words, please do not drop off your child(ren) and plan to return for them later in the day. If they are part of a carpool, at least one adult must plan to stay with the group. The parking map is attached. Please park in the designated area ONLY – if you don’t, UD may ticket. Your College School dashboard parking pass is not recognized at the STAR campus. The end of the ceremony marks the end of the school year and we will not return to school that day.

Summer camp opportunities: Are you still seeking camp opportunities? Our incoming Director, Mrs. Glowatz, shared the following with me.

Parking Lot: Unfortunately, I have to send another reminder to please drive the posted speed limit (15 mph) and observe the stop signs when in our parking lot. I have seen an increase in the number of cars exceeding the speed limit and rolling through stop signs. We need to make sure we are protecting our whole Blue Hen flock!

Memorial Day weekend: The unofficial start of the summer is just around the corner. Please remember – Newark will be very busy that weekend with the UD graduation ceremonies (May 25 – May 27). School is closed on May 29 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

Have a great weekend,

Rachel
