The College School

Hello TCS families!

A HUGE thank you to all who supported TCS for I Heart UD day!  You helped us exceed our fundraising goal by over $600! We will be purchasing portable art gallery display boards as well as additional shelving to display the amazing artwork that your child(ren) create. Thank you so much for your support!

Teacher Appreciation Week: We had a great week celebrating our amazing teachers! A special thank you to Erin Newmark for organizing travel related treats throughout the week. Everything was very much appreciated.

College School gear: Just a reminder, TCS gear is expected to arrive on May 17. We will sort everything as soon as possible and get your items to you (or your child) by May 19 – provided the items are delivered to us when expected.

STEAM night: Thanks to all who came out to our annual STEAM night! It was great to see so many families join in on the fun. I think the record on the penny barge was 92 pennies and there were some really impressive skyscrapers built! The swirl art was worthy of framing for the wall. We may have some future engineers, artists, and architects at TCS. I hope you had an opportunity to visit with our incoming Director, Mrs. Andrea Glowatz.

Closing ceremonies: It is hard to believe that closing ceremonies are less than 4 weeks away! We are excited to celebrate the accomplishments of our students that our theme is simplyCELEBRATE! An official invitation is being prepared, however, here are some details. Date: June 8, 2023. Please arrive at the Audion at the STAR campus between 9:15 and 9:45. Do not go to the school. Light refreshments will be available starting at 9:15. The ceremony will begin at 10am and will likely end between 11:15-11:30. Dress code: Dress to Impress! At least one adult must be responsible for each child. In other words, please do not drop off your child(ren) and plan to return for them later in the day. If they are part of a carpool, at least one adult must plan to stay with the group. The end of the ceremony marks the end of the school year and we will not return to school that day.

TerraNova Testing:  It is very important that your child(ren) arrive to school on time, well rested, and full of nutritious food. Electronic devices are not allowed in the classrooms. Any questions regarding these academic assessments may be directed to your homeroom teacher.

Parking Lot: Unfortunately, I have to send another reminder to please drive the posted speed limit (15 mph) and observe the stop signs when in our parking lot. I have seen an increase in the number of cars exceeding the speed limit and rolling through stop signs. We need to make sure we are protecting our whole Blue Hen flock!

Memorial Day weekend: The unofficial start of the summer is just around the corner. Please remember – Newark will be very busy that weekend with the UD graduation ceremonies (May 25 – May 27). School is closed on May 29 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

All the best for a fun weekend!
