The College School

Dear TCS Families,

Greetings and Happy Tuesday!  Hoping you were able to get out this past weekend and enjoy more great fall weather.  Here are some of the happenings at TCS:

  • Fire Prevention Day was last Wednesday–students learned about the importance of fire prevention, smoke detectors, and fire safety plans.  Many thanks to UD’s Fire Safety Team for coming to TCS to share their expertise with our students and staff!
  • On Tuesday and Thursday of this week students from UD’s Behavioral Health and Nutrition program will be making presentations to our students on healthy habits of eating, exercise, sleep, and more!
  • Spirit wear update–I met with Elise Berrocal, Communications/Marketing Director for the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD).  She is assisting us with the approval and ordering/purchasing process so we will be able to get our own TCS Gear!  Stay tuned!
  • Dyslexia Movie Night is this Thursday (10/27)!  Please see Mrs. Comiez’s note below regarding registration and other event details.
  • We have our next lunch excursion to Russell Dining Hall this Friday (10/28).
  • Just a reminder that the first quarter ends next Friday, November 4th.
Dyslexia Movie Night
As part of our celebration of October Dyslexia Month, join us on Thursday, October 27 at 7pm from the comfort of your own home to watch and discuss the documentary The Big Picture:  Rethinking Dyslexia.  The movie runs an hour and is appropriate for children, too–although it might not capture the interest of our youngest learners. A zoom link will be sent to families who register at this link by Wednesday, 10/26 at 7pm: https://forms.gle/5dChVyKJRUxGiKik7.  If you have any questions, please email Ms. Comiez at acomiez@udel.edu. Let’s go to the (virtual) movies!

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best,

Dr. Phil
