The College School

Dear Families,

As I wrap up my final days at the College School, I want to pause and thank you for being such a positive part of my life.  Whether you are an established family or new to us this year, each of you has been an important part of my journey, and for that, I am truly grateful.  My career at TCS has been unparalleled, serving as a classroom teacher, an admissions assistant, and most recently as a director.  I have been fortunate to be a part of the College of Education and Human Development, and I’ve taken great pride in the broad achievements of my talented and passionate colleagues.  Another highlight has been my time supervising, guiding and co-teaching alongside thousands of undergraduate and graduate students.  Each and every relationship has yielded a valuable return that continues to give back right up to this day.

I am grateful to have worked among professionals where children come first and education is a valued priority. I know the commitment to this unique environment will endure beyond my departure, providing that same compassion that drew me here from the start.

The College School is an inspiring place to be, and I will always treasure it as the cornerstone of my career as an educator.  From opening car doors at morning arrival and “high fives” in the hallway to engaging in conversations, meetings, and countless exchanges in between, I valued each opportunity to assess, design and foster a plan to help every child succeed.

While COVID-19 precipitated some extra challenge for TCS, I am proud to depart at a time of steady growth and stability, including the addition of 15 new students. I believe that as we all continue to share our testimonies and broaden our outreach, the College School will progress and move forward.

Again, I welcome my successor, Phil Piercy to the College School family.  What a pleasure to have had the opportunity to work alongside of him these past three weeks; sharing ideas and common goals and developing fresh strategies for the months and years ahead. I am confident that we will thrive under Phil’s leadership, as he inspires positive outcomes for our students, best practices for our teachers and vitality to ensure a bright future for our current and prospective families.

Finally, I also leave you under the committed leadership of our Dean, Gary Henry and a staff whose care and commitment will undoubtedly prosper.  As promised, I will remain close in proximity and alongside of you in spirit, as my support for the College School endures for many years to come!

All the best,
Laura
