October Newsletter

Dear TCS Families,
It’s hard to believe we’re halfway through October! Outside TCS the fall season brings shorter days, cooler weather, and vibrant colors, while inside– changes are taking place, too. UD tutors are arriving for their daily sessions with children, student teachers have completed their “solo” week in the classrooms, and UD academic projects and observations are in full swing.  Assessments have been administered, daily schedules are definitive, and weekly sessions with our reading instructors, language therapists, and school psychologists are all under way. In addition, our 8th graders are beginning to “shadow” local high schools as they narrow down their choices for next year.
We’ve also had a number of activities for our students including a trip to Camp Tockwogh for our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. What a great opportunity for middle-school bonding as they participated in outdoor team enhanced activities such as the “Leap of Faith,” Giant Swing, and the low ropes course. This coming Thursday, TCS will take a school-wide trip to the Constitution Center in Philadelphia, and on Friday, November 9th, we will head to Milburn Orchards for hayrides, pumpkin picking, and other festive
activities.  We have undoubtedly maximized our time during these first several weeks at TCS! Thank you for being such a valuable part of your child’s education. The TCS staff truly appreciates your involvement and support!  Looking forward to the approaching change and promise that this beautiful season continues to bring!

Thank you for signing up for our TCS Parent Partner Committees! It’s never too late to join…..so please contact Mrs. Bachman (jbachman@udel.edu) if you’re interested in helping out. Committee Chairs will be contacting members soon to schedule an initial planning meeting.

Progress Report Conferences will be held on Monday, November 19th. Expect a contact e-mail from your child’s Literacy teacher to schedule your meeting time.  We look forward to sharing and discussing our students’ progress.
